Graduate
Master of Philosophy Arts and Social Sciences
UNSW Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia
About this program
The Master of Philosophy (Arts and Social Sciences) at UNSW Sydney offers interdisciplinary research training in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture. It consists of three compulsory courses, one common course, one specialisation-specific course and one discipline-specific course, plus a 25,000 word research thesis supervised by academic staff. The specialisations are aligned with the faculty's research strengths, staff expertise and the employment market rather than with traditional majors, and the program is especially suited to people with an undergraduate degree who want to return from the workforce to develop research skills and explore contemporary problems across disciplines. It typically runs a little under two years full time at the UNSW Kensington campus in Sydney. Successful completion can qualify graduates for admission to doctoral research, and graduates work as policy analysts, researchers, writers, educators and arts and media professionals.
