About this program
UNSW's Master of Philosophy in Engineering is a research degree combining an original research thesis with a coursework component of three courses (18 units of credit), including a research methods course and two advanced disciplinary knowledge courses, completed within the first four terms of enrolment. The thesis component requires original investigation, design or engineering development work, giving students genuine research training that goes beyond a purely coursework-based engineering master's while still including structured coursework support. Admissions
Entry requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline at a level specified by the Faculty Higher Degree Committee (HDC); or an equivalent qualification from a tertiary institution as determined by the Faculty HDC. Students should have been in contact with a potential supervisor before applying for the program.
