About this program
UNSW's Master of Public Policy and Governance develops skills in analysing, formulating and evaluating public policy, oriented toward the practice of policy across advocacy, advising and public administration rather than purely academic policy theory. Students explore the role of evidence in policy making, apply contemporary policy theories to real policy development, and examine how power, politics, ideology and influence shape policy outcomes, while critically examining accountability and integrity in public governance both in Australia and internationally. A key feature is genuine policy communication skill-building, including designing advocacy campaigns, writing submissions and briefs, and constructing persuasive arguments, taught by policy experts with real practitioner experience. It suits people already working in public sector, community organisation or business policy roles who want to reflect on and formalise their practical policy experience with genuine academic grounding.

Admissions
The maximum credit transfer for a Masters is 50% of the specialisation, that is, up to 24 UOC credit transfer for the 1 year specialisation, 36 UOC credit transfer for the 1.7 year specialisation, and 48 UOC credit transfer for the 2 year specialisation. 1 year (48 UOC) program (Specialisation A) One of the following: An honours degree or graduate diploma* (or equivalent qualification) in a related field with a credit average (equivalent to a UNSW WAM of 65) A bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in a related field with a credit average (equivalent to a UNSW WAM of 65), plus one year relevant professional experience Students in this specialisation will receive 48 UOC in advanced standing upon entry to the program, and will complete a 1 year (48 UOC) program of study. 1.7 year (72 UOC) program (Specialisation B) One of the following: A bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualif...
