About this program
UNSW's Master of Public Sector Leadership (Research) lets students contribute new knowledge within public sector leadership through a genuine research project, developing critical research skills and methodologies alongside original insight rather than following a purely taught curriculum. The program builds the experience and expert knowledge needed to confidently approach a research career in public sector leadership and governance, distinguishing it from taught public policy master's degrees focused on applied practitioner skills. Course structure
- A genuine research degree with no taught coursework component: candidates undertake a substantial
- original research thesis in public sector leadership under academic supervision
- developing research skills and methodology alongside disciplinary expertise
- rather than completing a set list of core/elective courses
Admissions
(1) A candidate for the degree shall have been awarded at a standard not below Honours Class 2 an appropriate degree of Bachelor from The University of New South Wales or a qualification considered equivalent from another university or tertiary institution. (2) In exceptional cases an applicant who submits evidence of such other academic and/or professional qualifications as may be approved by the Committee may be permitted to enrol for the degree. (3) If the Committee is not satisfied with the qualifications submitted by an applicant the Committee may require the applicant, before being permitted to enrol, to undergo such examination or carry out such work as the Committee may prescribe.
