About this program
A four-year, 192 unit allied health degree with integrated honours, training clinical exercise physiologists who prescribe exercise for chronic disease, injury and rehabilitation. The structure is 150 core units, 30 work-integrated learning units and 12 electives, with more than 500 hours of clinical placement (about 140 in third year and 360 in fourth) across South Australian clinical facilities and the university's community clinics. Core study covers exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, nutrition, pain management and chronic disease assessment, using equipment such as metabolic carts and ECG. The degree is accredited by Exercise and Sports Science Australia, so graduates are eligible for accreditation as Accredited Exercise Physiologists and Exercise Scientists. Entry requires IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0. It suits students committed to a registered allied health career in exercise-based treatment.
