About this program
The Associate Degree in Health Sciences at RMIT University provides an introduction to health sciences, exploring both the individual and public view of health in Australia. It suits students undecided about their career options in the health sector, giving them a better understanding of different health professions. Through the lens of the health industry, students learn about psychology, project management and exercise for health conditions, with a focus on health promotion, and engage with an industry partner on a real-world health promotion project and work placement. Course structure
- Year 1 The first year focuses on understanding the body in health and disease. You'll be introduced to the Australian healthcare system and the role of different health professionals. You'll also explore the role of health promotion and cultural health in the Australian context. You can choose to graduate at the end of first year with a Higher Education Diploma in Health Sciences. Year 2 The second year builds on health promotion and health-related projects
- providing you the knowledge and skills to work with individuals and groups to promote health through education and other strategies. You'll undertake a capstone experience that involves a health industry project and practice that includes a work-integrated learning (WIL) activity

Admissions
Prerequisites: Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in English other than EAL; or a study score of at least 23 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or equivalent studies . Rankings and adjustment factors Entry to this course is competitive. Eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement plus any adjustment factors. You may be eligible to receive adjustment factors which include equity access schemes and/or subject adjustments to a maximum of 28 aggregate adjustment points.
