About this program
Bond University's Bachelor of Medical Studies is the first of two combined degrees that make up the Bond Medical Program, the shortest pathway to becoming a doctor in Australia at four years and eight months across Bond's three-semester year. Direct entry is limited to Australian citizens, permanent residents, Australian Humanitarian visa holders and New Zealand citizens; international students can still reach the program by first completing a recognised Bond pathway degree such as the Bachelor of Biomedical Science. The first two years, known as the preclinical years, are built around small-group, case-based learning, clinical skills laboratories, simulation and community placements, moving through the human lifecycle and body systems while introducing population health, First Nations health and medical ethics. In year three, students relocate to the Bond University Clinical Education and Research Centre at Robina Hospital for a full year of clinical immersion, working through core disciplines including surgery, general practice, internal medicine and emergency medicine before transitioning into the Doctor of Medicine.

1 term of coursework
- Years 1-3 (the preclinical years). Year 1 (2 semesters): four integrated domains covering the molecular and cellular foundations of the body's systems, the psychological and population-health basis of human behaviour including First Nations health, foundational clinical and communication skills, and professionalism and medico-legal principles. Year 2 (3 semesters): a second, more complex pass through the body systems covering disease processes, diagnostic investigations and health psychology, with continued clinical-skills and ethics training. Year 3 (3 semesters): core clinical disciplines - surgery, women's health, general practice, internal medicine, child health, mental health and emergency medicine - taught through Bond Virtual Healthcare patient cases and clinical placements based at the Bond University Clinical Education and Research Centre, Robina Hospital, preparing students for the Doctor of Medicine

Admissions
Direct entry is limited to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, Australian Humanitarian visa holders and New Zealand citizens. Applicants are assessed on academic result, subject prerequisites (English, English as an Additional Language, Literature, or English & Literature Extension at QCAA Units 3 and 4, Grade C or better, or an equivalent), an interview and psychometric testing. Up to 180 domestic places are offered each year across the May and September intakes, 80% to undergraduate (school-leaver) applicants and 20% to graduate applicants; competitive undergraduate applicants typically present an ATAR of 96 or higher (or IB 38+), while graduate applicants typically present a GPA above 6 on a 7-point scale.
