About this program
Box Hill Institute's Diploma of Nursing, CRICOS 112198E, is a 2 year, 25 unit of competency qualification (20 core and 5 elective units) that prepares students to work as an enrolled nurse under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. The course covers implementing general nursing care, assessing client health and analysing health related information, administering and monitoring medications, and attending to older clients, acute care clients and people with mental health conditions, alongside communication skills and the legal and ethical parameters of nursing practice.

Admissions
International students must have completed Year 12 or equivalent (including Mathematics), demonstrate high literacy and numeracy skills, and provide before their first clinical placement: a current clear Working with Children Check, a current clear National Police Record Check (Australia and one from their home country), an up to date immunisation/vaccination record (Health Care Worker Category A, including Diphtheria/Tetanus, Poliomyelitis, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Mantoux Test and flu vaccine), and a complete COVID-19 vaccination history including boosters. Basic computer skills are also required, and some clinical placement facilities may request educational history and a driver's licence or passport. Box Hill Institute only accepts enrolments from international students who are 18 years of age or above at the time of course commencement.
