About this program
This is CQUniversity's coursework Master of Arts, built specifically as the next step for graduates of its own Bachelor of Arts, Digital Media, Music or Theatre degrees: it accelerates from the nominal 18 months down to a single full-time year if the incoming student already holds relevant CQU undergraduate credit, which is a fairly generous articulation compared to most postgraduate arts programs elsewhere.
The degree is explicitly research-oriented rather than a coursework grab-bag: candidates work with an academic advisor to scope a specific topic within the humanities or arts, produce a literature review, and build toward an independent dissertation-style project, which makes it a genuine bridge into PhD study for students who didn't do an honours year at undergraduate level.
