Bachelor of Commerce
Curtin University, Perth, WA, Australia
About this program
Curtin's Bachelor of Commerce runs on a build-it-yourself model: a major is a fixed set of eight units, and students choose the first one in their opening semester with guidance from an advisor rather than being locked in at application. A second major can come from the rest of the Commerce list or, less obviously, from the Arts or Creative Arts major lists, which is how a Curtin commerce student ends up graduating with, say, Marketing paired with Screen Arts rather than a strictly business-only transcript.
The final-year capstone is framed around international business exposure specifically, applying entrepreneurial and critical-thinking skills to something closer to a live workplace problem than a standard assessed group project, which reflects Curtin's broader push to make its business degrees read as job-ready to Perth's resources, logistics, and professional services employers rather than purely theoretical.
Given Curtin's business school accreditation (AACSB) and its physical size, one of the largest commerce cohorts in Western Australia, the major combinations available (Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, Human Resource Management, International Business, Management, Marketing, among others) are broader than most WA competitors offer inside a single degree.
