The Bachelor of Design at Edith Cowan University is an integrated degree that introduces the core design disciplines of graphic, spatial and digital interaction design. Course structure

1 term of coursework

  • 240credit points of core units plus 120 credit points of electives, with no ATAR required for entry (Creative Humanities Portfolio Entry pathway). Year 1: Design Foundations, Digital Design, two electives (Semester 1)
  • Semester 1Design Knowledge, Design Prototyping, Design Thinking, an elective (Semester 2). Year 2: Design Studies, the Experience Design Studio, an elective
  • Semester 1Strategic Visual Communication, the Service and System Design Studio, an elective (Semester 2). Year 3: Design Studio 1, two electives
  • Design Futures, Design Studio 2, an elective (Semester 2). Elective sequences available in Photography and Visual Arts. Total: 3 years full time or part time equivalent, on campus at City Campus or Sri Lanka

Admissions

All applicants must meet the academic admission requirements for this course. The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published where applicable, or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following: AQF Certificate IV, 0.25 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider or equivalent, an Undergraduate Certificate, the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test, a University Preparation Course, the Indigenous University Orientation Course, or the Experience Based Entry Scheme. For international students, requirements include secondary school results.
