About this program
The Bachelor of Osteopathy (Honours) at Edith Cowan University trains qualified allied health professionals who use direct manual therapy interventions to improve movement, reduce pain, and manage or treat a range of physical conditions including acute pain and sports injuries. ECU is the first and only university in Western Australia to offer a degree in osteopathy, and the course is designed to prepare students for modern healthcare systems and a growing registered health profession.

1 term of coursework
- Semester 1A 4 year Honours degree developed with Osteopathy Australia to prepare graduates for Ahpra registration. Year 1: Society, Culture and Health, Anatomy and Physiology 1, Biomechanics, Introduction to Health Promotion
- Semester 1Introduction to Pathophysiology, Anatomy and Physiology 2, Population Health, Osteopathy Practice 1 (Semester 2). Year 2: Nutrition and Public Health, Health Communication, Health Research Methodology, Osteopathy Practice 2
- Semester 1Exercise Assessment and Prescription for Osteopathy, Psychology of Exercise and Health Behaviour, Evidence Informed Practice, Osteopathy Practice 3 (Semester 2). Year 3: Child and Adolescent Health, Workplace Compensation and Injury Management, Principles of Pharmacology, Osteopathy Practice 4
- Semester 1Healthy Ageing, Safety and Quality in Healthcare, Health Research Project, Osteopathy Practice 5 (Semester 2). Students with a Weighted Average Mark of 70 percent or higher after third year may take a graded Honours Thesis pathway in place of the standard project units. Year 4: Osteopathy Practice 6, Osteopathy Extended Professional Practice 1, plus Osteopathy Project Development or Honours Thesis 1
- Osteopathy Extended Professional Practice 2, plus Osteopathy Project or Honours Thesis 2 (Semester 2). Conditionally accredited by the Australian Osteopathic Accreditation Council (AOAC). Total: 4 years full time, on campus at Joondalup

All applicants must meet the academic admission requirements for this course. The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published where applicable, or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following: an AQF Diploma or equivalent, an Undergraduate Certificate, 0.5 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider or equivalent, the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test, a University Preparation Course, or the Indigenous University Orientation Course. For international students, requirements include secondary school results.
