About this program
The Bachelor of Youth Work at Edith Cowan University trains youth workers who provide guidance, support and resources to help young people aged 12 to 26 navigate the challenges they face while fostering personal growth and empowerment. Students learn interpersonal and helping skills, inclusive practice, and how to create social change with and for young people, studying specialist youth work units alongside complementary areas that support their practice.

1 term of coursework
- 360credit points, 240 core and 120 elective, plus six 0-credit assessment units, endorsed by Youth Work WA as its preferred entry course. Year 1: Introduction to Community Work, Interpersonal and Helping Skills, Youth Issues, an elective (Stage A)
- Principles of Youth Work, Working with Groups, two electives (Stage B). Year 2: Theories of Youth, Decolonising Perspectives, two electives (Stage A)
- Community and Human Services Placement 1, Designing Support Programmes, two electives (Stage B). Year 3: Case Management and Ethics, Human Services and Mental Health, International Human Rights, Young People and Crime (Stage A)
- Community and Human Services Placement 2, Inclusive Youth Work, an elective (Stage B). Recommended electives span psychology, addiction studies, community development and social policy. Total: 3 years full time or part time equivalent, on campus at Joondalup or online

All applicants must meet the academic admission requirements for this course. The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published where applicable, or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following: AQF Certificate IV, 0.25 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider or equivalent, an Undergraduate Certificate, the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test, a University Preparation Course, the Indigenous University Orientation Course, or the Experience Based Entry Scheme. For international students, requirements include secondary school results.
