About the Bachelor of Information Technology
The ICMS Bachelor of Information Technology is an innovative undergraduate degree which meets industry’s growing demand for emerging leaders with technology skills and technical business infrastructure expertise.
The accelerating digitisation of business is impacting all sectors of the economy. As automation and artificial intelligence (AI) and the use of Internet of Things (IoT) increase, so do threats from cyber criminals. An agile, skilled workforce is preparing to take on these new challenges. These rapid changes also offer a variety of new opportunities for graduates who can demonstrate digital fluency and competence. These skills are in high demand in Australia and globally.

Course Structure
The Bachelor of Information Technology offers 26 subjects in total:
12 core IT subjects
8 IT specified elective subjects
4 general elective subjects
2 Work Integrated Learning (WIL) subjects.
The degree offers a comprehensive curriculum covering fundamental concepts such as information systems, networking, programming, and database management.
Through specialised subjects like cyber security, web and mobile technologies, and edge computing, students gain practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge, preparing them for careers in various IT domains.
Additionally, the degree emphasises professional development through project management studies and real-world experience gained via professional placements, ensuring graduates are well-equipped for success in the dynamic field of IT.

As part of WIL, you’ll complete a Professional Placement Preparation Program, then two trimesters of professional placement.

ICMS also offers the Bachelor of Information Technology with two optional specialisations:

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the ICMS Bachelor of Information Technology you will able to:
Demonstrate broad and coherent knowledge of the IT discipline across a spectrum of core domains and their associated people, processes and technology aspects.
Apply in-depth knowledge and capabilities from an area of the IT discipline to design and implement IT-driven solutions by exercising industry standards, best practices, tools, and techniques.
Work collaboratively and productively with others from diverse backgrounds in a range of IT contexts, exhibiting adaptability, autonomy and employing emotional and social intelligence.
Critically analyse business needs, identify and evaluate requirements for solution design, and apply specialist knowledge to propose purpose-driven, user-centric, and innovative IT solutions for real-world problems.
Develop and demonstrate digital fluency and competence in the contemporary digital landscape in accordance with privacy concepts and best practices.
