About this program
Summary
The Graduate Certificate in Event Management is designed for working professionals seeking a formal qualification, as well as students who wish to develop knowledge and skills relevant to the event sector.
This postgraduate qualification is designed to expose students to contemporary event management theories, concepts and skills that are the basis of successful events across a range of economic sectors.
Students will learn how to critically interpret and evaluate the impacts, trends and issues associated with event management, as well as how to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
Pathways to a Master's degree
Upon successful completion of at least two subjects in the Graduate Certificate of Event Management, students may be eligible to articulate into the second trimester of selected ICMS master’s degrees such as the Master of Event Management (excluding the MBA and MBA specialisations).
For entry into the Master of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration (Business Analytics), Master of Business Administration (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) and Master of Business Administration (Digital Transformation), work experience is also required.
If you are aiming to articulate into a Master’s degree after successful completion of your Graduate Certificate you should check the relevant Master’s degree entry requirements.

The course structure comprises 4 core subjects.
Level 600: 4 core subjects
All subjects are worth 4 credit points.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
Apply complex theoretical concepts and technical know-how in the event industry.
Develop innovative, evidence-based solutions to event management problems, applying initiative and critical thinking skills.
Communicate and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders using advanced oral and written communication skills, adeptly adjusting to varying contexts and digital channels.
Analyse and assess the impacts, trends, and issues in event management with a critical perspective, supported by evidence and reasoning.

Admissions
ICMS's own Postgraduate Requirements: Graduate Certificate Courses page. Applicants must meet one of: successful completion of a bachelor degree (AQF7) from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent; OR an overseas higher education course of at least 3 years duration (minimum AQF level 6) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (5-point scale); OR a recognised Diploma or Advanced Diploma plus at least 4 years relevant full-time work experience; OR an approved Postgraduate Qualifying Program; OR at least 5 years appropriate full-time managerial or professional experience (documented per the ICMS Admissions Guidebook); OR at least two award or non-award postgraduate subjects (AQF Level 8+).
