Enhance your professional, management, communication and decision-making skills with the Graduate Certificate of Business.
Managers increasingly require highly developed knowledge and a broad set of applied techniques in order to be able to function effectively in contemporary business organisations.
The Graduate Certificate of Business is designed to expose students to contemporary business theories, concepts and skills that are the basis of successful management across a range of economic sectors.
The course focuses on developing advanced conceptual, transferable and professional attributes through a program of student-centred learning.
Pathway to Masters
Upon successful completion of at least two subjects in the Graduate Certificate of Business, students may be eligible to articulate into the second trimester of selected ICMS master’s degrees (excluding the MBA and MBA specialisations).
If you are aiming to articulate into a master’s degree after successful completion of your Graduate Certificate, you should check the relevant Master’s degree entry requirements.
Course Structure
The course structure comprises 4 core subjects across two trimesters.
Level 600: 4 core subjects
Australian and New Zealand students may wish to accelerate their studies course and complete this course in one trimester.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of essential management concepts, contemporary management issues and practices applicable to business operations.
Evaluate and respond to diverse contemporary, social, economic, political, technological, legal, ethical, environmental and cultural factors impacting organisations in the constantly evolving global economy.
Communicate and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders using advanced oral and written communication skills, adeptly adjusting to varying contexts and digital channels.
Synthesise data and information to develop evidence-based, innovative and sustainable solutions for business challenges.

ICMS's own Postgraduate Requirements: Graduate Certificate Courses page. Applicants must meet one of: successful completion of a bachelor degree (AQF7) from an Australian higher education institution or overseas equivalent; OR an overseas higher education course of at least 3 years duration (minimum AQF level 6) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (5-point scale); OR a recognised Diploma or Advanced Diploma plus at least 4 years relevant full-time work experience; OR an approved Postgraduate Qualifying Program; OR at least 5 years appropriate full-time managerial or professional experience (documented per the ICMS Admissions Guidebook); OR at least two award or non-award postgraduate subjects (AQF Level 8+).
