About this program

The Bachelor of Orthoptics (Honours) at La Trobe University teaches students to make a real impact on the vision and visual function of others. Students study the anatomy and physiology of the eye to understand vision, and learn how to help people with eye disorders such as strabismus, eye diseases and low vision. Clinical experience begins in second year, with placements in hospitals with dedicated eye clinics, private eye clinics, low vision rehabilitation organisations and the on-campus eye clinic. Graduates work as orthoptists in hospitals, specialist clinics, rehabilitation centres, and ocular pharmaceutical and device companies.
