Bachelor of Nursing

Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

Monash's Bachelor of Nursing trains students from first-year foundations through to entry-level competence as a registered nurse, combining classroom study of nursing theory and health sciences with substantial clinical placement hours across hospitals, community health and aged care settings throughout Victoria. High-achieving students can apply for the Bachelor of Nursing Scholars Program, which adds expert mentoring and additional development opportunities on top of the standard academic program. Students also spend time working alongside students from other health science disciplines, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy and nutrition science, building the interprofessional collaboration skills that real healthcare teams depend on rather than training in isolation. On graduation, students are eligible for registration as a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, opening pathways into acute hospital care, mental health, rehabilitation, aged care and community-based nursing, as well as further specialisation in areas like emergency nursing, midwifery, intensive care or oncology once registered and working.
