About this program
Monash's Bachelor of Nutrition Science is the only nutrition program in Australia accredited with the UK Association for Nutrition, giving graduates a direct path to registration as an associate nutritionist in the UK as well as eligibility for the Nutrition Society of Australia. The first two years build a strong scientific base in nutritional physiology, biochemistry and immunology alongside practical skills like assessing dietary intake and understanding food regulation, before the final year lets students specialise in nutrition research, public health nutrition or a food industry placement. Research is a genuine feature of the degree rather than an afterthought, with some projects run through Monash's dedicated Be Active Sleep Eat research facility covering dietary intake, sports nutrition and gut health. Students with an ATAR of 90 or above can apply for the Bachelor of Nutrition Science Scholars Program, which provides a direct pathway into a Dietitians Australia accredited course, letting high achievers pursue dietetics accreditation without a separate competitive application process later.

Course structure
- The course comprises 144 points that cover five key themes and are separated into Part A and Part B. Part A. Core studies (126 credit points) Part B. Specified elective studies (18 credit points) of which a minimum of 6cp elective study is a level 3 NUTXXXX code. Non-NUT (equivalent to 6 or 12 credit points) electives may be chosen from across the University as long as they are at level 2 or level 3
- and you meet the prerequisites for those elective units and there are no restrictions on enrolment in the units. Units are 6 points unless otherwise stated. Part A.
