About this program
The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) trains students to help people participate in the daily occupations that matter to them, whether that's self-care, work, education or social participation, drawing on occupational science alongside biomedical, behavioural and social sciences. Foundation units in anatomy, physiology, psychology and occupational science come first, building toward the assessment and intervention skills occupational therapists use with clients, families and community groups, with fieldwork placements running through second, third and fourth year in real practice settings. Interprofessional education alongside nursing and physiotherapy students builds collaboration skills that mirror how healthcare teams actually work, and the final year offers a choice between an honours research project or a participatory community practice project depending on career direction. Based at Monash's Peninsula campus, which has a specific health and wellbeing focus, the course is internationally recognised and uses scenario-based learning throughout, preparing graduates for occupational therapy careers across hospitals, rehabilitation, disability services, aged care and community health.
