About this program
The Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science covers the chemistry, biology and technology behind how medicines and other pharmaceutical products are discovered, developed and brought to market, building toward research and industry careers in drug discovery rather than pharmacy practice itself. The first two years build foundational science across the disciplines that pharmaceutical science draws on, before third-year electives let students dig into areas that interest them most within the field. Students train in Monash's own facilities, including a Shimadzu high-pressure liquid chromatography lab, working alongside one of Australia's largest pharmaceutical research groups through the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The final year centres on a major research project or industry placement, giving students genuine exposure to how pharmaceutical research and development actually operates before graduation. It suits students interested in the science behind medicines rather than clinical pharmacy practice, with career paths spanning pharmaceutical research, the biomedical industry and other roles requiring advanced skills in chemical formulation and drug development, both in Australia and internationally.

- The course comprises 144 points of pharmaceutical science study. The course develops through theme studies in: A. Core studies
