Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)

Monash's Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) trains students in exercise, movement analysis and manual therapy across four years, starting with biomedical and behavioural science foundations in anatomy, biomechanics and pathology before moving into supervised clinical practice in the later years. Clinical placements span metropolitan and rural health services, with increasing complexity through third and fourth year, and students spend time working alongside other health science students including occupational therapy, nursing and nutrition and dietetics to build interprofessional collaboration skills. The course exposes students to the specialty areas physiotherapists commonly work in, including cardiorespiratory care, gerontology, neurological rehabilitation and musculoskeletal or sports physiotherapy, without requiring specialisation before graduation. On completion, graduates are eligible for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia, which covers practice rights across every state and territory. Physiotherapists trained through this degree go on to work in public and private hospitals, sports medicine clinics, rehabilitation centres, aged care and private practice, as well as in health promotion, management and research roles.
