Bachelor of Radiography and Medical Imaging (Honours)

Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

Monash's Bachelor of Radiography and Medical Imaging (Honours) trains students to produce the diagnostic images doctors rely on for patient diagnosis and monitoring, covering general X-ray, fluoroscopy, interventional imaging, CT scanning and MRI across four years of integrated classroom and clinical study. Because imaging science and biological science are taught together, students learn sectional anatomy at the same time as they learn to generate the sectional images that depend on that anatomical knowledge, building a genuinely integrated understanding rather than two separate bodies of theory. Clinical placements begin in first year and run throughout the degree, taking students from campus skills laboratories into rural and regional Victorian hospitals as well as major metropolitan hospitals and private radiology practices, with some interstate and international placement opportunities. The final year includes an in-depth literature review and the option of a research project or extended study in CT, ultrasound, MRI or hybrid imaging. Graduates are eligible for national registration as a radiographer with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.
