Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours)
Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia
About this program
Monash's Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) trains students to work with people experiencing communication and swallowing difficulties, building foundational science knowledge in first year before layering on the clinical, ethical and research skills speech pathology practice requires across twenty-eight units and four years of study. Early workplace exposure and interprofessional learning opportunities start well before the formal clinical placements, which run through third and fourth year, beginning in simulated practice settings before moving into acute, subacute, community and private practice contexts. A learner-centred structure lets students pursue their own interests through an independent research project in the final year, while the overall course structure meets Speech Pathology Australia's requirements for professional registration on graduation. It's designed to produce practice-ready graduates rather than students who need substantial additional training after finishing, and it suits students interested in a clinical allied health career working with children and adults across hospital, school, community health and private practice settings.
