Master of Advanced Finance
Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia
About this program
Monash's Master of Advanced Finance is aimed at people who already hold a finance degree or work in the industry and want technical depth rather than an introduction to the field. Core units cover financial statement analysis, funds management, advanced corporate finance and quantitative data analysis in Python, after which you specialise in one of three themes: investment banking, asset management, or financial technology and sustainability. The investment banking stream covers mergers and acquisitions and infrastructure finance, the asset management stream goes into fixed income and financial machine learning, and the fintech and sustainability stream pairs sustainable finance with climate-related risk units. Elective choices are set up to align with the Chartered Financial Analyst curriculum, so students preparing for CFA exams can use their electives productively rather than duplicating study. Entry requires a finance major or minor at a high credit average, reflecting the course's assumption that students arrive already comfortable with core finance concepts and ready to specialise.
