About this program
Monash's Master of Business Analytics is built for people who already have a quantitative undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or engineering and want to apply that background to business problems using open-source tools rather than proprietary software. Coursework leans heavily on hands-on data work, teaching you to source, clean and analyse data yourself so you can critically evaluate analysis produced by others rather than simply consuming dashboards, with an explicit focus on ethical and reproducible methods. Depending on your prior qualifications you complete 72 or 96 credit points, moving from foundational statistical and programming units into more applied business analytics and machine learning content. It suits graduates who want to move from a technical discipline into business-facing analytics roles, such as data scientist, business intelligence analyst or analytics consultant, where the ability to translate quantitative findings into business decisions matters as much as the technical modelling itself.

- The course comprises 96 credit points structured into three parts: Part A. Advanced preparatory studies (24 credit points)

Entry level 1: 96 points to complete Duration: 2 years full time, 4 years part time An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) with at least a high credit (65%) average, or an equivalent GPA. Entry level 2: 72 points to complete Duration: 1.5 years full time, 3 years part time An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline with at least a high credit (65%) average, or an equivalent GPA. Applicants must have successfully completed a first year undergraduate statistics units, or provide evidence of qualifications/training or experience that the faculty considers to be a satisfactory substitute. Applicants must prepare a Candidate Statement in which they are required to demonstrate that they possess the motivation and academic skills required to successfully complete the program.
