Master of Commerce

Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

Monash University's Master of Commerce is a research-training degree, not a general coursework master's. It is the compulsory doctoral pathway for the banking and finance specialisation and a preferred doctoral pathway for accounting, econometrics and business statistics, economics, health economics, management and marketing. It is aimed at recent graduates and final-year undergraduate or master's students with outstanding academic results who intend to pursue a research career, and most graduates continue into a PhD and the research community. Relevant backgrounds include the business disciplines plus cognate fields such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, psychology and other social sciences. Students who want a professional coursework qualification in commerce should consider Monash's Master of Business, Master of Professional Accounting, Master of Banking and Finance or Master of Marketing instead.
