About this program
Monash's Master of Mathematics gives graduates with a strong undergraduate mathematics foundation the flexibility to build a program spanning pure mathematics, statistics, or applied and computational mathematics, depending on whether their interests lean toward theoretical development or practical real-world problem solving. The flexible coursework structure means two graduates of this degree might specialise in quite different areas, one going deep into pure theory and another focusing on statistical or computational applications, while both gain the advanced mathematical capacity to handle genuinely complex problems. A combination of coursework and project work builds both the depth and applied experience needed for either industry roles or doctoral study. It suits mathematics graduates who want to push their technical capability further before entering the workforce or moving into a PhD, and works well for students who haven't yet decided between an academic research path and an industry-facing mathematical career.
