About this program
The Doctor of Education is a professional doctorate for practising educators who want to combine coursework with applied research leading to a dissertation. Candidates choose a research focus in an area such as school leadership, teacher professional learning, student learning, Aboriginal education, educational technologies, curriculum design, early childhood education, tertiary and adult education, education policy, or the sociology of education. Each candidate is assigned a supervisor who helps develop an approved plan of study suited to that area of specialisation, with the option to meet on campus or work remotely. Admissions
Advanced academic study, research preparation and professional experience are required for admission to the course. For details please contact the Academic Chair. To be eligible for admission as a candidate for a Doctoral Degree (Professional), an applicant must have: *Bachelor Degree with at least a 2A Honours normally in the same discipline (AQF level 8); or * a Masters Degree normally in the same discipline (AQF level 9); or *a Bachelor Degree normally in the same discipline (AQF level 7) and satisfy the Dean of Graduate Studies with evidence of substantive and significant scholarly or professional attainments including satisfactory research preparation the equivalent of AQF level 8 or 9.
