Graduate Diploma in Asian Language (In-country)

Murdoch University, Perth, WA, Australia

About this program

Japan and Indonesia are expected to play an increasingly significant political, economic, environmental, and cultural role in the region, and the Australian Government has encouraged study in Asia as part of building language and cultural expertise. This qualification is the only course in Australia offering a full year of in-country study for postgraduate credit, requiring two semesters of full-time study at partner universities in Japan or Indonesia. Students are immersed in Japanese or Indonesian daily and can also study subjects such as the literature, media, religion, history, politics, economics, sociology, and anthropology of the host country, building advanced language skills along with regional knowledge and local networks. Because teaching is delivered at Murdoch's partner universities, institutional arrangements take several months to process, so students need to apply well ahead of their intended start date. This course is at AQF Level 7.
