About this program
The RMIT Bachelor of Biomedical Science lets students study the human body in health and disease, with a Biomedical Science option that includes a specialist minor in medical biotechnology or clinical health and disease, and an Osteopathy pathway option that combines with the Master of Clinical Osteopathy. The degree offers flexibility to study across the biomedical sciences. Graduates work in medical and health research, laboratory and diagnostic science, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, or continue to postgraduate study.

1 term of coursework
- Year 1 You will complete the Foundations of Health in your first-year block, learning fundamental knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, develop your communication and professional skills, and introduce you to factors that impact the health of individuals and communities, particularly our Indigenous peoples. Year 2 You will then progress into the biomedical science core body of knowledge, gaining a broad understanding of disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. You will develop understanding of the fundamentals of biomedical science and the cellular and molecular processes that are fundamental to life, as well as the origins and mechanisms of disease at the cellular, tissue, organ and systems level. Year 3 In your third year, the Research Project for Medical Sciences subject provides you with a capstone experience, giving you the opportunity to integrate, critically reflect on and consolidate what you have learnt in your course
Admissions
Prerequisites: Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL; or a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or equivalent studies . AND Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods, Maths: Specialist Mathematics or Physics or equivalent studies. AND Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Biology or Chemistry or equivalent studies. Guaranteed ATAR For Semester 1 2027 applicants, this course has a Guaranteed ATAR (excluding adjustment factors).
