About this program
The RMIT Bachelor of Cyber Security equips students with the specialist knowledge to troubleshoot, analyse, design, support and provide cyber security solutions. The hands-on degree is modelled on the Australian Signals Directorate framework, covering areas from computer forensics and cyber security testing to blockchain and AI, preparing students for current and emerging threats. Graduates work as security analysts and engineers, penetration testers, incident responders and security consultants.

1 term of coursework
- Year 1 In your first year of study, you will undertake multiple core subjects and adopt Bootcamp2Studio signature model to learn specialised ICT knowledge to prepare you for advanced subjects. You will explore decision making in cyber security, undertaking studio projects, dealing with cyber ethical issues, and more. Year 2 In second year, you will delve deeper into the cyber security discipline with studies in computer forensics, penetration testing, cloud security and secure electronic commerce, software engineering fundamentals and more. You will also choose elective courses in computing technologies, or from a range of minors. These include: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Bioinformatics Blockchain Enabled Business Blockchain Technologies Business Analytics Business Information Systems CISCO Networking Cloud Computing Creative Computing Data Analysis Data Science Enterprise Systems Development Entrepreneurship Year 3 For third year, you will undertake a capstone subject in strategic cyber security and graduate folio development, allowing you the opportunity to integrate, critically reflect on and consolidate what you have learned throughout your study. You will also explore cyber attack analysis and incident response, cyber security governance, software engineering project management, and broader studies across data science, AI and more

Prerequisites: Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL; or a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or equivalent studies . AND Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or equivalent studies. Rankings and adjustment factors Entry to this course is competitive. Eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement plus any adjustment factors.
