Bachelor of Applied Commerce

TAFE NSW, Multi-campus, NSW, Australia

About this program

The Bachelor of Applied Commerce carries triple professional-body accreditation: CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), and the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA). That's a heavier accreditation load than most standalone accounting or financial planning degrees carry individually, since it's built to satisfy the education requirements of both the accounting and financial planning professions at once. Students choose a major in accounting or financial planning, or take a double major covering both, a genuinely unusual combination given how differently those two professions are regulated and how rarely degrees try to service both simultaneously.

A third-year industry placement is built into the structure, developed in consultation with industry so the practical component reflects what employers in accounting and financial services firms are actually looking for rather than a generic business internship.

Coursework runs beyond pure numbers into client psychology and communication, reflecting how much of financial planning practice in particular depends on advising real people through decisions rather than just producing correct calculations.
