About this program
A one-year honours year following the Bachelor of Business, Government and Policy or a related degree at the University of Canberra. It adds advanced coursework in research methods and a supervised thesis on a business, government, politics or public policy question. Entry requires a completed bachelor's degree with a strong grade average in the relevant discipline and a supervisor for the topic. The honours result is classified, and a first or upper second class is the usual requirement for a PhD and for competitive graduate and policy roles. It suits graduates heading toward research, policy analysis or the senior public service who want to demonstrate independent research ability.

Admissions
To be admitted to the course, applicants require: . a) Completion of an undergraduate degree in an area relevant to their proposed program of study for example: business, psychology, politics, economics, or communication, with: . - an overall GPA of 5.5 or equivalent in the degree or in units relevant to their proposed program of study. - The bachelor degree should be completed within the last 10 years. . Note: Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in a cognate area* displaying relevant, recent and specific experience may be used in lieu of the GPA and the 10-year requirement. . b) Academic judgement that the student can be expected to achieve an Honours level in the course. . The application process will include a two-page proposal outlining the proposed thesis topic, any industry partners, the name and signature of the principal supervisor and Honours Programme Director, background literature, proposed research questions and proposed method. . * Note: The proposal must clearly demonstrate how the applicant's academic or professional background aligns with the proposed Honours program.
