About this program
A three-year science degree (72 credit points) on the role of nutrition in health across different societies, built on biochemistry, physiology and food science alongside the psychological, social and cultural drivers of what people eat.
It does not lead to dietitian registration. Graduates are eligible for registration as an Associate Nutritionist with the Nutrition Society of Australia, and those who want to practise as dietitians progress to a master's such as UC's Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, for which this degree is a direct pathway. A placement is required, with Working with Vulnerable People and sometimes police and vaccination checks. Entry is a selection rank of about 60 with assumed knowledge in chemistry and mathematics. It suits students interested in nutrition science, public health, the food industry, research or an allied-health graduate pathway.
