About this program

A four-year, 96 credit point degree in diagnostic radiography, with first intake in Semester 1, 2027 at the Bruce campus. Study covers imaging anatomy, radiographic technique, the physical principles of imaging, CT, radiation dosimetry, image interpretation and research methods, taught in progressive levels.

Clinical work integrated learning is substantial, structured as four five-week blocks plus two 13-week residencies in metropolitan, regional and rural hospitals. Graduates are eligible to apply for registration as diagnostic radiographers with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia; formal professional accreditation is expected to be assessed in 2028 after the first cohort begins. Entry assumes Year 12 biology, physics and mathematics, and requires police clearance, immunisation records and current first aid. Graduates work as radiographers and move into mammography, sonography, clinical education and research. It suits students set on a medical radiation career.
