About this program
A three-year degree accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council, leading to eligibility for registration as a midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. It is built on a continuity-of-care model: each student follows 22 women through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, attending their regular appointments and being on call for labour, which requires real flexibility.
Students complete 1,310 clinical practice hours over the three years, more than at many comparable programs. Entry is a selection rank of about 70 plus police, immunisation, tuberculosis and Working with Vulnerable People clearances, with IELTS 7.0 and at least 6.5 in writing. It suits people committed specifically to midwifery and woman-centred maternity care rather than general nursing.
