About this program
The Bachelor of Oral Health is a three-year degree taught on campus at Parkville with a March intake, in which students learn alongside dental students at the Melbourne Dental School using advanced clinical teaching facilities. It combines coursework with hands-on clinical experience and placements in metropolitan and rural clinics, taught by practising clinicians and academics. Graduates are eligible to register with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and practise as an oral health therapist, with the combined scope of a dental hygienist and dental therapist, providing preventive care, periodontal treatment, and dental care for children and adolescents. Graduates work in private dental practice, public dental services, community and school dental programs, and rural and remote health, and can progress to further study in dentistry.
