About this program
The Graduate Certificate in Bushfire Planning and Management at the University of Melbourne extends existing knowledge of fire's role in the Australian environment, developed alongside industry with two streams: bushfire planning and fire management. Students complete four core subjects across 50 points, combining weekly online lectures with two five-day residentials at the Creswick campus, applying concepts in the field and fire laboratory.
The course is not available to international students requiring a student visa. Graduates move into bushfire risk management, land management, and planning and urban design roles across public and private sectors.

Admissions
To be considered for entry into this course, you must: Have completed a bachelor degree (AQF7) in a cognate (relevant) discipline with a weighted average mark (WAM) of 65%, or equivalent. Or Have completed a bachelor degree (AQF7) in any discipline with a weighted average mark (WAM) of 65% or equivalent. And Have completed below prerequisite subject(s): at least 25 points in one or more of Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics or Statistics. Or Have completed a bachelor degree (AQF7) or equivalent in any discipline. And Have completed a graduate certificate (AQF8) in a cognate (relevant) discipline with a weighted average mark (WAM) of 65%, or equivalent. Or Have completed a diploma (AQF5) or equivalent in a cognate (relevant) discipline. And Have five years of documented relevant experience. And Have completed either a relevant Melbourne MicroCert.
