Bachelor of Health Sciences

University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD, Australia

About this program

The Bachelor of Health Sciences at the University of Queensland gives students a broad grounding in human health, from cellular biology through to public health policy, before they specialise in clinical health, nutrition or public health. It was developed in consultation with health industry employers and suits both students aiming at a clinical career, who can use it as a stepping stone into further clinical study, and those aiming at non-clinical roles in public health planning and policy. Core courses include introduction to public health, health systems and policy, and biology for health sciences, and students complete 90 hours of supervised work experience in real health settings such as hospitals, universities or non-government agencies. It also feeds directly into postgraduate study such as UQ's Master of Public Health for students who want to keep specialising after graduation.
