Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours)
University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD, Australia
About this program
The Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at the University of Queensland trains students to assess, diagnose and treat communication and swallowing disorders across all ages, building on a program that has been training speech pathologists since 1962. From first year, students learn through inquiry-based and simulated learning experiences in UQ's purpose-built simulated hospital ward, working toward a tailored clinical placement program that covers settings from health promotion through to mental health and youth justice. Core courses include communication and swallowing across the lifespan, disability across the lifespan, and anatomy and neuroanatomy for speech pathologists, taught by internationally recognised researchers in the field. The honours qualification supports further clinical specialisation or research after graduation. Graduates commonly work as paediatric, disability, rehabilitation or private practice speech pathologists.
