About this program

The Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics is a one-year postgraduate program at UQ's St Lucia campus for graduates and experienced professionals who want to use best-practice bioinformatics to solve scientific problems. Students study foundational courses in computing, statistics and biology through to advanced courses in a specialised area, building the skills of an effective bioinformatician and data-minded scientist. It can lead into the Master of Bioinformatics. Graduates work in genomics, medical research, agriculture and biotechnology as bioinformaticians, computational biologists and data analysts.

Admissions

To be eligible for entry, you'll need: a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, including two courses in any combination of computer science, biology or statistics, or a graduate certificate (or equivalent) in bioinformatics. You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.5 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification.
