About this program

The Master of Molecular Biology is a postgraduate program at UQ's St Lucia campus for scientists building high-level knowledge and practical skills for research or industry practice. Students master techniques such as protein engineering, enzymology, high-throughput screening, molecular cloning and protein purification, and develop advanced knowledge of genes, proteins, genome sequencing and recombinant DNA technology, with training in bioinformatics, molecular genetics and immunology. Graduates work in laboratory research, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and further postgraduate study.

Admissions

Master of Molecular Biology. 1-year degree (16 units of study) If you have relevant prior learning or experience, you can reduce the number of courses you need to complete and graduate in less time. To be eligible to complete the degree in 1 year full-time (or part-time equivalent) full-time (only available as full-time study) , you'll need: a bachelor honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (see below). Relevant disciplines for previous qualifications Relevant disciplines include biotechnology, biomedical science, pharmacy, bioinformatics, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and biological chemistry.
