Bachelor of Nursing
University of Tasmania, Hobart/Launceston, TAS, Australia
About this program
The Bachelor of Nursing trains students for clinical placement across a state where rural and remote healthcare delivery isn't a special elective topic but the default context most graduates will actually work in. Tasmania's population is spread across small regional centres as much as Hobart and Launceston, and the degree's placement structure reflects that, sending students into rural hospitals and community health settings as a matter of course rather than as an optional rural health unit bolted onto a metropolitan-focused course.
Clinical placement hours meet the national accreditation standard required for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and the course combines campus-based simulation and skills labs with hospital and community placements building progressively across the degree, from observation-heavy first-year placements to near-independent practice in the final year.
Graduates register as nurses and typically go into acute care, aged care, community and rural health roles, with Tasmania's own public health system, spread thin across a small population, a common and immediate employer for local graduates.
