About this program
UTS's MBA is run out of the university's business school in the middle of Sydney's CBD, and the program leans on that geography deliberately: a lot of the case work and guest teaching draws on ASX-listed companies and government agencies headquartered within walking distance of the campus. It's aimed less at fresh graduates and more at people with several years of work experience already, and admission typically expects that.
The course structure covers the standard MBA spine (strategy, finance, leadership, marketing) but UTS markets its point of difference as a stronger focus on digital transformation and data-driven decision making than some of the more traditional Group of Eight MBA offerings, reflecting the university's broader identity as a "university of technology." Students can typically choose specialisation electives or a capstone consulting project with a real organisation as the final component, rather than a purely theoretical thesis.
Class sizes tend to be smaller than the big-name MBA cohorts, and much of the teaching happens in the evening or in intensive block mode to accommodate students still working full-time.
