About this program
UNSW's Bachelor of Actuarial Studies is a direct foundation for entering the actuarial profession, structured so that students achieving the required academic standard in their actuarial courses gain exemption from the Actuaries Institute's Foundation Program professional examinations, along with Validation by Educational Experience credit recognised by the US Society of Actuaries and Casualty Actuarial Society. Actuarial Studies (Co-op) students and those in dual degrees may also gain exemption from university accreditation components of the Actuary Program's professional examinations, and students planning to complete UK actuarial qualifications can access Transfer of Prior Learning credit for subjects already covered. It suits students who've decided on an actuarial career from the outset of their studies and want their undergraduate degree to count directly toward professional actuarial accreditation, rather than treating actuarial study as one specialisation within a broader commerce degree.

Course structure
Students must complete 144 UOC when taken as a standalone program. These UOC are made up of: Level 1 Actuarial Studies Core Courses (48 UOC) Level 2 Actuarial Studies Core Courses (24 UOC) (Please note: ACTL2131 may be substituted by MATH2901 and MATH2931, please see below) Level 3 Actuarial Studies Core Courses (6 UOC) Level 3 Actuarial Studies Electives (18 UOC) Free electives (36 UOC) General Education (12 UOC) For single and related double degrees please see Progression Plan

Admissions
ATAR 99.2 or equivalent (2026 lowest selection rank, UNSW Business School). Entry is UAC/direct-application based; there is no separate handbook-listed minimum entry requirement beyond the published ATAR/selection rank.
