About this program
UNSW's Bachelor of Science in Computer Science studies the design, construction and use of computer systems, covering how data and data structures are represented and how algorithms are designed for automatic information manipulation through programming languages and machine systems. The program focuses on the design and development of hardware and software tools that enable computer applications, rather than the applications themselves, though non-computing factors like human interface design and psychological aspects are acknowledged as genuinely shaping whether computing systems actually succeed in practice. Course structure
Students must complete 144 UOC when taken as a standalone program. Complete a 96 UOC Computer Science Major 36 UOC of Free Electives - students can also choose to undertake an optional minor or a combination of an optional minor and Free Electives to fulfil this requirement 12 UOC of General Education Note: Students taking a major and minor that require INFS1603 and COMP3311 as core courses should take only COMP3311 and replace INFS1603 with an Information Systems Level 2 or 3 course
