Bachelor of Vision Science

UNSW's Bachelor of Vision Science studies the sensory processes underlying vision alongside the development of vision-related technologies, covering optics and lens design, ocular anatomy and physiology, eye disease, sensation and perception, and research design across a genuinely broad discipline. Graduates are positioned for growing sectors including vision and ophthalmic research, assistive and rehabilitative technologies, virtual and augmented reality development, ocular imaging and diagnostics, and the design of new healthcare devices and models, going well beyond a narrow pre-optometry pathway. Students who complete the degree may be eligible to transfer into the Master of Clinical Optometry, making it a genuine dual-purpose degree for students interested in vision science broadly as well as those aiming specifically for optometry practice. It suits students interested in the science of vision and its technological applications, whether that leads toward clinical optometry, biomedical technology industries, or further vision science research.
