About this program
UNSW's Graduate Certificate in Computing gives students a short, four-course qualification in computing, suited both to graduates wanting to complement or update an existing qualification with advanced computing topics and to those with no computing background at all who want an introductory grounding before considering a higher-level computing qualification. From 2026, the program is open for direct entry to domestic students only, reflecting changes in how UNSW structures entry into its computing programs. It suits professionals from unrelated fields who need genuine computing literacy for their current role, as well as those testing whether a computing career suits them before committing to a longer degree like the Master of Information Technology. The short, four-course structure makes it a fast, low-commitment way to build foundational or advanced computing skills depending on a student's starting point.

Admissions
No advanced standing (RPL) will be allowed in this program. A three-year undergraduate degree equivalent to a standard Australian bachelor degree, and a minimum 65% average; or At least three years work experience in the area of science or engineering.
