Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Decisions

UNSW Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia

About this program

UNSW's Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Decisions builds on the shorter Graduate Certificate with deeper training to manipulate and interpret large volumes of data, meeting strong current and future workforce demand for data scientists and analysts. The program spans mathematics and statistics, computer science, and economics, reflecting how genuinely interdisciplinary modern data science practice actually is rather than treating it as a purely technical computing skill. It suits professionals who found the shorter certificate too brief but aren't yet ready to commit to a full master's degree, giving them substantial data science training while keeping the option to continue into the Master of Data Science and Decisions later. The program works well for people with a quantitative background formalising existing skills, or those from an adjacent field wanting genuine data science expertise added to their profile.

Admissions

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the transfer of credit towards a program from another degree. The following policy applies to students with degrees from other institutions and students with an undergraduate degree from UNSW. In limited cases, students with previous postgraduate or honours-level coursework, including Honours graduates from UNSW, may receive advanced standing/recognition of prior learning. Advanced standing is limited to a maximum of 12 UoC. Advanced standing will only be granted for courses at the honours or postgraduate level, not courses at the undergraduate level. Students must apply for advanced standing and the School of Mathematics and Statistics will determine if the student's completed coursework is deemed equivalent to UNSW counterparts. Advanced standing is not guaranteed. The entry requirement for the Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Decisions is ...
